Wisconsin, Georgia, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Michigan. Around here those aren’t states, they’re avenues.
Several state-named routes stab the city of Washington, D.C., from the Maryland suburbs to its north. As a commuter who’s held more than a few different positions at different establishments in and around the famous town, I’ve had more than ample chance to peer from side to side and see what sorts of companies have decided to set up shop along one of those major routes connecting DC with Montgomery, Howard or Prince George’s counties.
Most notable of these corporate-lined thoroughfares is, this observer contends, that of Wisconsin Avenue. Among the higher-profile entities that call this busy undivided four-lane metropolitan motorway their home are some especially recognizable names. To wit, aerospace behemoth Lockheed Martin maintains its government liaison office there (see government-offices.cmac.ws/lockheed-martin-fbm-liaison-office/25285), nationwide cosmetics giant Bluemercury keeps its headquarters on Wisconsin Avenue, near its initial store in Georgetown (See here- Barry Beck: Executive Profile & Biography), and Somerset Development Company (somersetdev.com/mission), a real estate developer committed to the revitalization of inner-city communities, is housed along the same urban road. Furthermore, there’s an abundance of title-search firms and property management companies located along Wisconsin Avenue, including B.F. Saul & Co., Federal Title & Escrow, Brennan Title and Palisades Title.
